I feel that we put to much focus on standardized testing, I have seen teachers spend weeks teaching children how to fill in the bubbles. Where that time could have been spent working on reading or math, while testing is important it is not as the other skills.
In China
Testing is many times used as the only factor in deciding if a child is promoted to the next. This could be especially detrimental because in China only the top of each class get to be part of the Communist party therefore the only ones electing governmental officals.
